James Messerly

James W. Messerly, 72, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at his home.

A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.

James is survived by his siblings, Amelia Schweertman of Stanhope, Mary Johnson of Longville, MN, Wilbert (Nancy) Messerly of Fort Dodge, and Cynthia Timm of Webster City; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mary (Myers) Messerly; wife, Joycwe Messerly in 2017; brother, Richard McCormick; brothers-in-law, Herman Schweertman, Lloyd Timm, Sr, and Elvin Johnson; nephews, William Messerly and Wilbert Messerly, Jr.; niece, Robin Johnson; great niece, Angeline McCormick; and great nephew, Bobby Johnson.

James William Messerly was born April 18, 1948 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1968. He worked for Ayala Construction, Nissen's Meat Packing, Frit Industry, and eventually worked with his dad doing lawn care. On February 22, 1970 he was united in marriage to Joyce Jorgensen in Fort Dodge. He enjoyed spending time fishing and traveling around the United States.
