Joan Stein, 72, of Webster City, died Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral.
Joan Louise Hathaway, daughter of Earl and Donna Antons Hathaway, was born December 20, 1948 in Fort Dodge. She graduated in 1967 from Fort Dodge Senior High. On September 1, 1967, Joan was united in marriage to Dennis Stein at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City. She worked many years for the Webster City Community Schools as a paraeducator at the Middle School.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis; sons, Dennis (Laura) Stein of Webster City, Kevin (Callie) Stein of Belmond; grandchildren, Kadon and Carly Stein, Eugene Smith, Jeremy Smith, Jacob Miner, Amanda Miner; great-grandchildren, Allissa, Stella, Joey, Liam, Koda; twin sister, Jean (Larry) Musgrave of Illinois; sister, Cathy (Mike) Francioni of Florida and brother, Bruce (Diane) Hathaway of Michigan.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Shawn Dugan; and great-grandson, Timothy Smith.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Joan enjoyed antiquing, traveling, genealogy, being outdoors, gardening, but most all of spending time with family. She loved animals especially her dogs, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, and the Iowa Hawkeyes
