Roger Weideman

Roger Weideman of Osceola died suddenly in his shop on January 6th, 2021 at the age of 71.

Roger was born May 2, 1949 to Dennis and Dorothy Weideman in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School through 8th grade and graduated from Fort Dodge Highschool in 1968 in a class of over 400.

Roger attended Iowa State for two years majoring in electrical engineering prior to entering the Navy. While in the Navy he maintained the flight simulator in Brunswick, GA. After the Navy he attended Iowa State for another year.

Roger worked in his father’s company, Specialty Machine & Manufacturing, in Fort Dodge until he moved to the Twin Cities where his sister lived. A few years later he met his future wife and fell in love. Cindy (Beyl) and Roger were married on September 20, 1980. They were blessed with two children, Jessica and Ryan.

Roger worked for a medical manufacturing company that he helped develop, building equipment and fixtures. In 1996 the company was sold and relocated across the country. At which time Roger and his family moved to Osceola on the Beyl Family farm which became Schon Boden Farms where they raised quality breeding stock of Scottish Highland Cattle. Roger continued building and maintaining machines for medical companies and built various items for friends and neighbors. He enjoyed farming, sailing, flying his airplane and traveling around the country in the motorhome. He especially enjoyed restoring old tractors and trucks with his son and going to tractor pulls.

Roger was an active member of the American Highland Cattle Association, serving on their board for many years. He was a long-time member of the North Central Highland Cattle Association and the WI Cattlemen’s Association. Roger and Cindy enjoyed traveling all over the country for conventions and shows and made many wonderful lifelong friends.

Roger is proceeded in death by his parents, Dennis and Dorothy.

Roger is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Jessica (Scott) Rose and Ryan Weideman; three grandchildren, Wyatt, Madison, and Peyton Rose; sister, Renee (Gary) Helgeson and his nieces and nephews.
